Big Lottery Bid
Summary of the programme
The Parks for People programme was a joint initiative between the Big Lottery Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund. The joint initiative finishes in March 2009.
Our vision is that everyone should have access to a local park for enjoyment and recreation. Parks for People builds on the two Lottery Funds' shared commitment to bring real improvements to local environments by making a lasting impact on the lives of local people and the places where they live.

The excellent and productive working relationship between the community and the Local Authority prompted the Council to support the request made by the FODP to the Area Committee to apply for Big Lottery funding. As a result and following two years of hard work involving many community groups, schools, councillors, and committed individuals the Big Lottery has allocated £1,090,000 to be used for the renovation and refurbishment of Dunwood Park. This money is subject to the successful completion of the final phase of the bid process. To assist in this they have also granted £48,000 to fund the necessary professional work, planning, and audience development.
